Care Guide

Product Care

Emma Hope uses the highest quality leathers and materials. We recommend the following care for our products.

Storing Your Shoes

To maintain the shape of your shoes we recommend stuffing the shoes with tissue paper or using shoe trees.

Avoid contact with rain, oils, grease, solvent, alcohol, water and heat. If the shoes become wet, leave them to dry naturally before putting them away.  To revive suede, lightly steam for a few seconds to lift the pile and gently brush.

Calf & Nappa Leather

Calf leather is smooth and strong. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth. You may use light leather cream products where appropriate, carefully following the instructions.

Metallic Leather

Metallic leather is a delicate form of leather that has a laminated finish to give a smooth and glossy surface, and you should avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth

Do not apply any leather care products on metallic leather.

Hair Calf “Pony”

Hair calf “Pony”: You can remove surface dirt using a clean, dry, soft cloth by very gently rubbing in the direction of the hair growth. Abrasion may cause irreversible bald patches, so it is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects.

Satin

Our satin is a naturally delicate fabric, we recommend avoiding contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces that may cause the satin to pull or tear

Contact with liquid may cause satin to stain and therefore it is important to keep your shoes safe from rain, alcohol, oil and other liquids. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth. But in any case, it’s best to get it cleaned professionally

Velvet

Silk velvet has a soft, dense pile and slight sheen. Contact with liquid may cause velvet to stain and therefore it is important to keep your velvet shoes safe from rain, alcohol, oil and other liquids. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth. If the pile of the velvet develops a dent just steam it for a few seconds and gently brush the pile up with a very soft brush and leave to dry.

Maintaining Your Crystals And Embroideries

Emma Hope embroidered shoes are constructed by hand, and you need to be careful to ensure the crystals are not in contact with any material that may cause the embroidery to snag, scratch or tear. It is important to keep your shoes safe from rain, alcohol, oil and other liquids. You can gently remove stains with a damp cloth. When storing your embroidered shoes, stuff the shoes with tissue paper and then wrap the shoes with tissue paper to protect the stones and store them in their box

Replacing Missing Stones

Please note we only offer in-house repairs on any current velvet embroidery shoes. Please email or call our store for advice and replacement stones.

Lace

Lace is a light, open weave fabric known for its elegant yet delicate nature. It is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces that may catch in the lace and cause it to tear.

Contact with liquid may cause lace to stain. It is important to keep your shoes safe from rain, alcohol, oil and other liquids. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth.

Raffia

Made from sustainably harvested leaves of the palm tree, our Raffia shoes are hand-woven in Morocco. All our styles in raffia are unlined so they are naturally ventilated. They are intended to be worn barefoot so the raffia gradually softens and moulds to your own feet.

It is important to keep your raffia shoes safe from rain, alcohol, oil and other liquids. You can gently remove surface dirt by using a clean, dry, soft cloth. If your raffia shoes become wet, stuff them with tissue paper and leave them to dry naturally away from any direct heat or light.

Soles

If the soles get wet, please allow them to dry naturally.  If in time your soles needs replacing, please ensure your cobbler replaces them with the same quality leather soles.

Repairs

We work with a private cobbler for shoe repairs. Please call us for any enquiries on repairs and cost for re-soling, replacing rubber soles on sneakers, re-heeling, re-tips on heels etc.
